Basically the hooker/stripper turned out to be a nutcase who accuses men of rape once every couple years.

She has a history of mental disorders.

One of the people the she singled out as an attacker wasn't at the house when the attack occured.

Her story of violence and struggle almost certainly would have led to DNA evidence yet there was none. Also there was no trace of latex in her.

She's already trying to extort money from the school which Amplifier predicted in March.

She is a beastly ugly woman who no college student would touch with a 10 foot pole.

Women around the country showed why they earn 1/3 less than men by believing the hooker with mental issues.

The media seemed awfully quick to ratchet everything up and then when things were found to be not exactly what the media expected they quickly and quietly stopped following the story.

They were so quick to plaster the images of the students on the cover of magazines, but not so quick to retract any previous judgement and say "Whoops, maybe we got carried away."

What really sucks is that this will stick with these guys for quite a long time. 🙁 There will always be lingering doubt even though it is clearly apparent that they did nothing.

I think they should sue because it is apparent the Police Dept. botched up the investigation by assuming they were guilty.

You left out that the prosecutor won his election and strung the case out to January 2007 by which time he hopes it will all be forgotten about when he drops it.

wasnt the duke lacrosse team already in trouble for similar problems?

Actually I think it was just the opposite, the assumption was that they were probably guilty of something because they were a sports team. The original coverage of this thing was very sympathetic to the victim until all the info started coming out about how the case was handled. As it stands right now 3 of these players names have been dragged through the mud in a very public way.

they were in trouble for rowdy behavior. They are guys in college thats what they do. and i can assure you that any college student that made worthwhile his 4 years away at college could easily be serving time for the shenanigans they pull.

QFT. Their previous problems occur to any college student. Some get caught, some don't.

That might very well be the case, but that does not make the actions of the local PD acceptable.

Second Duke Stripper: Rape Accuser's Allegations Are 'A Crock'
Friday, June 09, 2006

DURHAM, N.C. ? A second stripper who performed at a Duke University lacrosse party where a dancer said she was assaulted called the allegations a "crock" in early interviews with police, according to court papers filed by a defense lawyer.

Kim Roberts said the accuser was out of her sight for only five minutes. The accuser told police she was dragged into a bathroom and raped, beaten and choked for half an hour.

Roberts' statement about the March 13 lacrosse team party was cited in a filing Thursday by lawyers for Reade Seligmann, 20, one of three team members charged in the case.

According to a March 20 statement written by a Durham police investigator, Roberts "stated that she heard that (the accuser) was sexually assaulted, which she stated is a 'crock' and she stated that she was with her the whole time until she left."

The defense lawyers argue that prosecutors omitted that statement when they got court permission in March to obtain photographs and DNA samples from team members.

District Attorney Mike Nifong's office declined to comment Thursday.

In an April interview with the Associated Press, Roberts said she initially doubted the accuser's story but had changed her mind.

"I was not in the bathroom when it happened, so I can't say a rape occurred ? and I never will," Roberts said. But she added, "In all honesty, I think they're guilty."

Defense attorneys have said they believe Roberts changed her story to gain favorable treatment in a separate criminal case. She was arrested March 22 on a probation violation stemming from a 2001 conviction for embezzling $25,000 from a Durham employer.

In April, a judge agreed to drop a requirement that Roberts pay a 15 percent fee to a bonding agent to get out of jail. Nifong signed a document saying he did not oppose the change.

Seligmann, of Essex Falls, N.J., and two other players ? Dave Evans, 23, of Bethesda, Md., and Collin Finnerty, 19, of Garden City, N.Y. ? have been charged with rape, sexual offense and kidnapping in the case. Defense attorneys insist all three are innocent.

The three men are free on $400,000 bail each. Their trial could begin in spring 2007.
