Hi guys, I just want to ask what is the laptop equivalent of a GTX 1080 and a GTX 1080 Ti desktop graphics card? So far the choices I have based on budget are laptops with an RTX 2060 and an RTX 2070 Max Q, although I am not sure if these are near the performance of a GTX 1080 desktop graphics card.

I think the RTX 2070 Max Q is close to 1080 (desktop) performance though for 1080 Ti performance you will need the RTX 2070 (non Max Q) variant which has higher core clocks and vram, both have the full cuda core count of the desktop 2070 but with reduced core clocks, Max Q 2070 clocks lower than the regular mobile 2070 on both the core and vram and have locked power limits iirc 2060 doesn't come close, it's more between GTX 1060 (6GB) and GTX 1070 on the desktop counterparts.

I think the RTX 2070 Max Q is close to 1080 (desktop) performance.

It isn't per these benchmarks:
https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2070-Mobile-Max-Q-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080/m703511vs3603

The 2080 Max Q closes the gap a bit but it's still 15% behind. The desktop parts just have more power to work with and the laptop versions can't keep up. The 2060 in laptops is often the full version so it doesn't lag behind the 2070 Max Q by as much as the desktop versions. I think it's about 10% slower than the Max Q 2070.

Sorry but GPU userbenchmark is nothing like real world testing, go look at some actual reviews to get a clearer picture
Link?

Here's the desktop 2070 beating the laptop 2070 by a fair margin and destroying the Max-Q 2070.
