What is the killer ~$200 video card now?

There's also the RADEON 9800NP, available at CC right now for $225, which may be worth considering. It has about the same performance in DX8.1, but is better at AA/AF and PS2.0.

So would it be worth now to get a 9800np (if you can get it for $255)or just wait till feb. for the new line of cards?

9800 np if you can afford it.

i haven't heard about the new line of cards coming out. The XT series and 5950 and 5700 should carry for another 6 months.

im waiting for ati's BFAGP10000 to come out...

and you can make that "rig" link part of your sig by adding that link to the signature box in your profile 🙂

5900np is the best bang for the buck(199$on newegg.com with free shipping)do some resurch, toms hardware and sharkeys extreme also have several comparison charts. you should have no problem bringing a non-ultra card up to ultra clocks so the only real differece in the 128 and 256 cards is at resoloutions of 1600x1200.

I bought a 9800np a couple of months ago. Games run great on it and I didn't have to pay a fortune for it. If I hadn't bought it, now I'd be waiting on the next gen stuff that comes out early next year.
