Anyway, i was wondering what is the equivant Intel chip?

and can i run WinXP on it? or stick w/Win98? (going to give it to grand parents to check email, and surf the web.)

thx

Yep a high end P1 MMX sounds about right ,Cyrixs floating point power was absolutely pathetic compared to Intels Pentium MMX or even AMDs K6 chips.

Win98 would be better from the CPUs point, though XP would obviously be better from the users point of view, Win 2000 would be a decent compromise I think.

Oh god... I hated my cyrix chip back in those days... random windows BSODs all the time until I replaced it with a pentium

I had a Cyrix 200mhx MII chip and those babies got hot. I was able to overclock it and it did out perform the pentium 133MHz it replaced. Then I got a K6-2 266MHz I think and OC'd that. After that I got a skt 370 board and then it just went on and on from there :)

I ran a Cyrix P200+ for a while.
It actually ran at 166mhz.
Also, it was pretty much just an overclocked 486.

The thing was about the same speed as a friends Pentium 75.
It was a piece of crap.

I'd cate the FPU of your "Cyrix M II 333Mhz" to be comparable to that of a P166.
The ALU is probably close to that of a 266mhz celeron.

Yea they're s**t CPUs ,I overclocked my fathers Cyrix PR166 a small amount & the damn thing died! (wouldn't go beyond post) :Q ,that was a little embarassing explaining that to my dad! ,gave him a P90 as a stop gap measure & latter on a Pentium 166MMX (the only MMX the mbrd could take  )

Even the S370 Cyrixs had pathetic FPU performance.
