Yesterday while running Prime95 torture test on my friends newly aquired P4 1.8A @ 2.4 his win doctor alarm tripped. Though the CPU never got over 55°C, his case temps rose to 68°C. In time the CPU would have overheated I am sure, so i had him stop.

I told him I will mod his case and put in 4 or 6 nice 92mm case fans and he said go for it. Well I ordered the fans but kinda want to get the holes drilled before they arrive. But I do not know the American diameter of the holes or a detailed way to get the mounting holes drilled w/o the fans. On all 80mm fans they all look the same, I would imagine 92mm are the same... just with a bigger hole and extended mounting places.

Thanks.

First I measured a 92mm fan grill.
The diameter of the area it will cover is 3 5/16"

On a Delta 92mm fan, the fan blade itself is almost the same as the diameter of the grill. The opening that houses the fan blade is about 3 1/2 "

Diagonal distance between the holes for the screws is about 4 9/16 " from center of screw hole to center of screw hole.

If I were you I would just wait for the fans to come. I can't guarantee these measurements are exact, and it would really suck to make the holes and have them be wrong :(

oh, I know what you're talking about, it's the long ones that connects the intake and cpu fans right?

That Enermax Whisper kit is what I'm looking to build - makes sense to pull in cool air from outside the case, doesn't it? However, I don't want the included heatsink/fan, besides I don't think that will fit a P4 heatsink/fan. So... what I'm looking for is the flexible tubing of the correct diameter. Anyone know where I could find it?? Thanks.

I realized that after I read up on that link. I am in a search of the stuff. I think the most likely place would be Home Depot or an automotive parts store...

Those types of stores were what I figured as well. However, no-go at Lowes Home Improvement (haven't checked Home Depot) & nothing in a "regular" NAPA store, but one of NAPA's central warehouse-type locations may have something...
