What is the hiberfil.sys file?

I have this 500MB file, what does it do? I think it has to do with hybernation mode. Can i delete it safely?

Go into your Power settings on Contro Panel. Uncheck the hibernation feature. It should delete it after a reboot.

It is the hibernation data.

Its the file that the computer dumps the contents of RAM to when you hibernate the computer.
It allows for the computer to power up to the state you last left it in.
For that reason, the file is usually a bit bigger than your total installed RAM.
