From what I was hearing TELEPHONE is the greatest invention of all time because it connects people together.
 
Anand...it was created from the deep bowels of sliced bread and today controls over 87% of everything...
 
Cheese Waaaay predates sliced bread. The term better "greatest invention since sliced bread" referst to the invetion of store bought, pre sliced pre packaged bread in the 1920s. So, you can't say, for example, that the automobile is the greatest invention since sliced bread, as it predates sliced bread (in the sense the expression uses it).

That said, I'd have to say the transistor. That or the sharpie 😛
 
the internal combustion engine ... though at some point it will superceded by the cold-fusion engine.
