what is the formula for converting kwh to $$ ??

my kill-a-watt is saying my heated blanket is using .06kwh over a 30 minute period. I pay 8.5 cents per kwh.

Well, you can't exactly "convert" them since they aren't like units.

However...

At $0.085/kwh you are spending roughly 1/2 a cent an hour to operate it.

BTW the blanket is using 0.06kw, not kwh - A kwh is a draw of 1kw for one hour.

So you have, for one hour of operation:

(0.06kw)*(1h)*($0.085/kwh) = $0.0051

I was operating under the assumption it was instantaneous readout...

If you had it set to measure total power then bootymac's math is what you want.

I think it's measuring total power usage. I just checked it; .09kwh and 46 minutes.
