Back when the first version hit I did. I've been on too many projects to dwell on it much here lately. I just don't understand why it seems so hard for people to patch. <shakes head and walks away in disbelief> >>
1. People have been separated from the computer enough to not know what is going on. This is one of Windows' failings, in my opinion of course. Install Frontpage and IIS gets installed and runs. That is bad 😉
2. Most people, if they do know they are running it, do not realize that much about it.
3. If they do know about problems with it they are too lazy to do anything about it.
4. Many patches break parts of the system after they are applied. I cannot install sp2 on my Win2k machine (there is a thread about it here somewhere) because I get an INACCESIBLE_BOOT_DISK or some such blue screen upon bootup after installing it. That is bad.
Just wait for IIS 6.0, total rewrite (supposedly) so there will be whole new problems to discover!
And I only looked at some of the machines during a "just got home from the bar and I should check my email and what is this?" type of night 😛
