I'm looking to possibly upgrade an old 1.2GHz T-bird on my old Asus A7V133 without swapping out motherboards. This is a spare PC I'm going to use as a HTPC and I wouldn't mind having a little more horsepower under the hood if the price is right.

How fast can I go on one of these? Would a 2100+ be out of the question?

Thanks! :D

I'd have to go back and check the actual board to see the revision. I'm guessing an early one as I bought it in March 2001 right when it came out. More than likely a 1.01 or 1.02 Rev.

This is a great link that I couldn't find earlier... thanks.

It really depends on your motherboard revision. If you do have the 1.05. (note the trailing dot) then you can get a 2100+. It has to be a Palomino core though!

palomino core.
although some oldest revisions wouldn't support an XP at all, regardless of BIOS.
I have one of those at work... it's forced to run a Duron 800 because the XP1700+ I tried would not run at all. It was a Palomino too.
