No, in fact the 1.13 GHz chips that were experimented with were slot 1 I believe. The slot has no speed limitations that anybody knows of. And besides, the heatsinks can be ridiculously large as standard.
Socket 370 is only a rearrangement of the pins and the extra pins are mainly for delivering more power to the chips as far as I know.
i know that the 370 is just a little different but i had thought that they fazed out the slot 1 a while back and it was long dead, I cannot find a 1 GIG SLOT 1 can anyone point me to a site that sells them? or can't you just use one of those adapter cards where the 370 is converted to a slot 1?
Yeah, but that wasn't the slot's fault. It was intel rushing in believing that the new stepping (new at the time) could hack it. It couldn't, and lots of reviewers recieved bad chips. Quite strangely, Anand's did work fine however.
