With the caveat that not all socket 370 boards can run Tualatins.

Thanks, i just looked it up and it costs about $60. My friends brother needs a cpu faster than his 1.2ghz celeron.

Pentium III - S 512kb cache 1.4ghz for those mobos that can run tualatins.

For those that cant itll be 1.0ghz i believe. Maybe 1.13 ghz as i heard they re-released these after the problems with them were sorted. Although they could be for slot 1 only.

:) How geeky do you want to get with it? Do a little research - if his Celly 1.2 is a TB1 stepping and his motherboard has overclocking options you might be able to just bump the FSB to 133 with little or no voltage increase and essentially have a PIII 1.6GHz. Not sure how the performance would measure up against a PIII-S 1.4GHz (the Celly would have more MHz but less cache) but people reported that the performance was about that of a P4 2GHz). Even if the motherboard is limited in its options you may be able to use a Lin-Lin adapter (dirt cheap on eBay) to modify the FSB and voltage - I have upgraded a couple of Dell / Intel boards that would normally not support any kind of overclocking in this way. Make sure his cooling is up to snuff w/decent thermal paste, etc. if you go this route.
