I just want to know which operating system can run games the fastest. Would running quake 3 or another game on another operating system (such as Linux, or Mac) be faster than running on windows? Which one is faster, Linux, Windows, or MAc?

Generally with the same hardware (vid card etc)... From the benchmarks I have seen Linux and Windows are about the same with OpenGL.... I have not seen benchmarks or testing that compares mac to pc though...that would be interesting.

XP Home. JK. >:)

I've tried UT on Win98, WinME, Win2K Pro (SP2) and XP (RC1). WinME had the fastest framerate followed by XP and 2000. Can't remember 98.

I have a system that is quite similar to yours (except slower video card, and more ram and storage space). Games in Windows 98 are a little faster than Windows 2000 Pro, but the added stability of Win2k makes it better, imho.

Win 98 seems to run a bit faster in games, and even OC a tad better, but win2ks stability makes it more worth it than 98.

If only talking about speed in games then Win98 probably has that. It's other less than redeeming qualities bring it down far enough though that I use Win2k for gaming and Linux for most work.
