I have looked on their site and can't find any info. All I see is 266/200 fsb support. Can it support the 166fsb cpu's?Thanks and please lmk

No Barton support. Palimino support up to XP2600+ according to the newest BIOS.

But there is a alternate bios (Cheapoman or some such) that allows you to adjust the FSB to 166.

It is a little complicated, and requires a few steps. Yes, the K7S5A will allow you to use 166 cpus, incuding Bartons.
Step one:
Get the latest Honey X or Cheepos Bios.
Step two:
Get a software overclock program like speedfan.

Install bios and run at 133/133 since the K7S5A WILL NOT boot at 166/166. Install the software overclock, and put to start up with windows. The computer will boot at 133/133 and then go to 166/166. the multiplier will be set by the MB correctly. the startup screen will display the wrong CPU but once in windows cpuid will display the correct frequency. Once setup it will all be done automatically. NOTE: from experience Kingston Hyper X will not work correctly.

As of a couple of months ago, 166 FSB is present in the Cheapo BIOS, but the statement in the FAQ is that no one has got it to work. When you select it, the mobo won't boot even if the memory is set async slower. That's what happened to me. I could not even test the memory speed at 166 with Memtest either. Since the memory is 133 CAS2, it isn't much of a stretch. It'll work a little short of 166 though (150?), at least it did for me. What the alternative BIOS does is unhide the hidden FSB/memory selections that are already there, and evidently 166 has not been tuned in the original enough to work.

Now it looks like somebody has found a way after all. Does that HyperX work at other speeds?

I know people want support for the CPU in the BIOS, but in the case of Athlons, they all work the same way, and therefore really should work (no garantees) provided you set the FSB appropriately even without individual BIOS support. In the case of Intel, there is some kind of "microcode" update that is present (although maybe not viewable) that should be taken care of (with an Intel utility), but I never saw anyone mention that for AMD.

I run Honey X bios, and I know they run tighter memory timmings than the stock bios. I got CAS2 Kingston Hyper X 2700 DDR. When the board is set to CAS 2 and ultra timmings the system will not boot with Hyper X, this is booting at 133/133. It will run at CAS 2.5 and Safe timmings at 133/133 which kinda defeats the purpose of buying better ram. Here is what gets me, I currently have two cheap a$$ sticks of DDR2100 CAS2.5, and they run fine at CAS2 Ultra at 133/133, and will even do 150/150 at CAS2.5 Ultra. I got two sticks of Corsair DDR2700, and these run fine at 150/150 CAS2 Fast (not Ultra). The Hyper X stick require CAS3 for anything above 142/142 which sucks. The Hyper X stick will work fine and 166/166 CAS2 Fast on an NF2, VIA333, and SIS746, but not on a SIS745 or SIS735, go figure. I have not tried them on anything else, so I do not know how they work on P4 chipsets.
