I've got one of those mobo's, but dangit can't seem to find the manual ATM.

Anyway, don't know much about Durons, but I thought the (Barton core) 3200+ was the "fastest" skt A made. So, per specs that's prolly the tops.

Why not just pick up another mobile?

Yes. At stock the 3200 barton is the fastest.

I believe 2nd would be the 2600 non barton fsb 266

I've got the 2600+ mobile barton in mine, stock speed is 2.133ghz I believe with 133fsb and 512KB cache, I've got it overclocked to like 2350mhz right now at 205 fsb or something around there(memory can't really go higher, maybe if I relaxed timings...or maybe if I upped voltage to the cpu?)...I could go higher, but I don't want to go above 1.65v on the cpu, each additional 50mhz after this requires like a .05 to .1vcore increase...if I wanted to go up to like 2v I think I could hit 2.7ghz.(wonder what 2.5v would give me...probably a power supply failing to supply the voltage)

That motherboard can take any and all socket A chips ever made, AFAIK. As mentioned the fastest "stock" is the AXP 3200+. Otherwise, get another mobile chip and overclock it.

Another option is to sell your board and switch to Athlon 64 (or Sempron socket 754).

yea i thought of that however that requires VASTLY more money then just getting another sub 100$ CPU

as id need a CPU, Mobo, Ram, Heatsink/fan and a PSU, and a gfx card as well because in my quick browsing of a64 mobos the 939 pin ones i didnt see any AGP ones

your best bet is to just get another 35W Mobile XP and OC it.

by the way I have the AN35 Ultra with a 35W Mobile 2400 XP, been running @2500 mhz forever. Still a nice combo for the money.

yea ill prob just do that

the one in there now is a 45w version, i got right when it all started

cause im curious what are yoru CPU settings? voltage FSB and all that

There are a few 939 mobos that take AGP cards. You can always get a plain vanilla PCI card with a PCI-X mobo also.

yes but i need the PCi slots for other things, i actually use about 5 of them so putting the vid card there isnt really an option

At the 'Egg:
retail box socket 754 Sempron 2600+ $63
Chaintech NF3 motherboard (VNF3?) $58
Shipping $2
Tax... none if you don't live in CA or NJ or TN

If you can sell your Shuttle board for $23, then you'll have a socket 754 setup for $100. Those CPUs and motherboards are reasonably overclockable to a possible 2.4GHz, which will probably be faster than an AXP at 2.5GHz (can anyone confirm?). CPU will come with HSF and you can use existing video card, power supply, RAM.

IIRC the a64s run a 400mhz FSB, i dont have the ram for that, i have to run it at 333 on this setup to make it work

and if i did it i woudl definitly go 939 for future upgradeability

and no matter what i did i woudl need a new PSU, and a good 450w one is liek 100$

IMHO, other CPU will be just waste of $$$. None of Socket A processors would go better (maybe few percent), but if it is dying search for other mobile.
