What is the expected pay rate for a tax acctg intern?

Orsorum

Lifer
I'm starting job interviews next week for a 10-week tax acctg internship for this summer. Does anyone know what the usual going rate is for such a position? I'll most likely (hopefully!) end up working for a Big 4 firm.

My friend was a Touchebag this summer - not sure what exactly he did/made but I think he pulled at least $25/hr...

big 4 would be nice enough just to put on your resume and work for free (to me)

imo if they make you an offer you are not in any position to make any pay demands

though they will probably pay you nicely

lol Damn, dude, I'm not looking to make demands, I'm just wondering what I should shoot for in the off-chance they ask me.

if they ask

this would be my answer:

I am eager to have the experience of working for such a prestigious firm and salary is of no concern

this is an internship afterall and you are in for a whole lot of competition

don't have to word it that way but tell them working for them is more important than any salary concerns

they are not going to treat there interns like trash because they more than likely would like to extend you an offer after provided you prove yourself to them

even if they offered $0 or just free living expenses i would take it if I was in your position because accounting is a very competitive field to get your foot in the door to a decent job

Not as much as an actuary intern. 😉

😛 I thought about becoming an actuary... then I decided I hate relatively complicated mathematics.

nope i'm an engineer but my brother is an accounting major currently and is going through the whole thing

getting your foot in the door and a nice resume are key in any field though but moreso in accounting than electrical engineering since there is so much more competition
but having a good internship is probably why I have a good job right now

wow thats nuts. what do they pay entry level permanent hires? 130,000 a year?

*shrug* That's just what I've heard. Entry-level tax accoutant at a big 4 supposedly makes about $58,500.

you do realize that 30/hr annualized is 62k and change so interns would be making the same as permanent hires AND they get paid for overtime....hmmmmm.......i'd say hop on this deal
