Hello all.

I am trying to find out what the specific (important and significant) differences that exist between a Matrox G450 dual head card and a Matrox G550 dual head card.

They both seem to have the same RAMDAC, and were built on the same process. The only thing I can see is that the G550 comes with some bundled software that seems neat, but not really important.

If anyone knows anything that I cannot find on this subject please educate me on the difference between the two.

Thanks in advance!

the 550 has some feature that're supposed to make video confrensing a reality over a modem connection.

Right, so if all I want is the display for 2 Monitors, then there is not any significant difference between the two? This is what I interpreted reading about the two.

no difference...and if that is in fact all that u want, go for a 16mb g450 for next to nothing...w/ dual head that is...

great card if the only 3d apps u run at winamp visual plug-ins...maybe a little counter-strike and some older games...provided your cpu is decent.

otherwise the 2d is unprecedented.

right. what nortexoid said. a 450 will more than suffice for a simple 2 monitor setup. if there is nothing else you need, why pay for it?
