what is the easiest way to create a dvd video based on multiple mpeg/mpg/avi files

I'm just trying to create a dvd that I can use in my car to watch short clips such as music videos. Don't care about menus or anything fancy. Just need to be able to skip back and forward to the next song. I tried to read through some guides but they all trying to do much more complicated things. Is there any quick and dirty way to this using preferably free software. I also have nero already.

You can try out D.I.K.O. It seems to work pretty well, and it'll burn all the stuff to disc for you. The only drawback is that you can't encode AC3 without a $400 piece of external software.
