what is the differene (if any) betwen LCD and XTFT display ?

In older laptops, TFT was actively lit (backlight) while DSTN had no backlight (like a gameboy), aka "passive matrix."

You'd have to look pretty hard to find a laptop that isn't active matrix / backlt these days, probably some little 2 LB. Sony micro-laptop.
