port forwarding=forwards tcp or udp incoming connections to a machine connected to the router doing the forwarding. sometimes called redirecting ports too, basic part of a nat setup.
Yes, you can also do port forwarding and redirects with a firewall as well.
Matter of fact I've setup several firewalls in the past which weren't actually used as a firewall, but were actually setup to do echo redirects. AKA this is where I use one computer to get to another computer or network I can't get to directly.
