what is the difference between ultrabay and ultrabay 2000?

i'm looking into getting a new T40 2373 and sadly it doesn't come with an optical drive. I've been looking on ebay and find plenty of dvd drives for around 40 dollars that fit ultrabay and ultrabay 2000. now my first question is what is the difference between ultrabay and ultrabay 2000. my second question is will these drives work for me? If they don't work can somebody please point me in the direction of the drives that do work in the new t40's 2373 thinkpads.

Well my 1st question is why does it not come with one?
But anyway it does not take either of those you mentioned it takes the, Ultrabay Slim Drive

i'm basically building it myself so i need to add my own hd, ram, and drive

probalby not, thinkpad parts are expensive and ultrabay slim is brand new for the T40's, no other thinkpads have it yet

thanks for the info i guess i'm going to have a super light lappy w/o an optical drive. hopefully a usb or firewire drive will do for a windows install.

thinkpad accessories are pretty expensive. the best bet to get it cheaper is to wait patiently on ebay. i get some good deals for my a31p on ebay but they don't show up very often. you just have to be patient with it.
