Im probabably going to get a car this summer and am going to get a 89 or 90 Mustang (not 100% decided, but most probable). I know there is the LX and GT versions. I thought (until reciently) the LX was the same car with the 4 cylinder engine. As I was looking I ran across a lot of 5 liter LX Mustangs so i guess there must be more to it than just the motor size. My only observation is the GT has a hatchback and the LX doesnt.

Does anyone know what the real differences are between these two models? Thanks in advace.

LX vs GT is just body kit (and maybe suspension) I think.

The GT is heavier IIRC.

I'm no mustang expert, but I believe that the LX had a softer suspension than the stiffer one found on the GT. There's probably some other differences as well.

I am pretty sure the 5.0 LXs are the same except for the body kit and I think the GTs have more grippy front seats. The suspension and all the other performance crap is the same. The LX 5.0s are lighter and you can get them in notchback form instead of the hatchback and they are even lighter and stiffer.
