yeah i papped myself when they announced the new line up as id just bought a SD400

then i realised the big change was a 2.5inch screen up from 2.0 on the current models....no big deal

probably a few refine ments in the already good lens set up, and again probably a few tweaks to the electricals

probably nothing to make them all that much better than the current lot

I own the sd500. The sd550 just has a few more scene modes and an ugly champagne color, definitely not worth the money

I need a new digital camera and was wondering if the extra .5 inch screen makes that much of a difference?? I read that it also consumes more power.

I know its all preference and price but need some comments.

Thoughts.

i think instead of the 3 minute movie limitation, you can keep going til you hit 1gb. kinda useful in those situations where whatever it is youre filming lasts longer than 3 minutes.

you can do that on the SD400/SD500 too

though 30fps @ 640x480 takes up a gig in just over 8 mins

from what i read on dpreview when the 550 came out, it had fixes for some of the bugs (dont ask me what they are) found on the 500.
