What is the difference between the Opteron 1xx and Athlon64 FX supposed to be?

This one really has me scratching my head. As far as I can tell, in the current generation they are 100% identical in all but name and rating scheme. They both use the same Sledgehammer core, both are in Socket 940 packages, both have dual channel 72-bit memory controllers. Both are intended for single-processor systems.

My best guess is that the differences lie in the future, probably with the Opteron keeping the 940-pin package and the FX going to 939. Is there some other difference I've missed?

I'm pretty sure redhatlinux is right... the FX's have the extra two HT links disabled because they're not designed for use in multiprocessor systems.
