What is the difference between Smoothvision 2.0 vs 2.1?

Smoothvision 2.0 is used on the 9500s & 9700s. It controls the AA and AF.
Smoothvision 2.1 is used on the 9600s & 9800s. It does the same as above, but slightly faster.
It is possible to make Smoothvision 2.1 work on non 96/9800 cards.

So is the 9700>9800 hacked omega drivers basically the enabling of smoothvison 2.1 plus overclocking abilities to approach 9800 speeds provided the 9700 card is a good overclocker?

i used the omega crack and display properties still shows smoothvision as 2.0. I am not sure if
2.1 is implemented or not.

No. The hacked omega drivers, AFAIK, just makes windows use the 9800 driver path for 9700 cards. Which`ll make Windows think that theres a 9800 rarther than a 9700 installed, and provide a small performance boost, around 5%.

Omega Drivers also add a overclocking interface for the drivers.

The same basic antialiaing principals apply in Radeon 9800 PRO as they did in 9700 PRO, though we still get a .1 tagged on the end here and this is because ATI have optimised the memory controller to enhance the FSAA performance. The Read/Write request arbitrator of the memory controller has been tuned to provide higher efficiency under high bandwidth situations - perfect for FSAA, especially with 4X or 6X FSAA in operation.

Thanks BoomAM and Pete. It makes sense now. I have been using the cataylist 3.6 for a while now and decided to give the omega 3.6's a try to see if I could benefit from them. Don't plan to OC as I am happy with my current performance.
