What is the difference between MS Mouse series 1000-4000?

They all seem to have the same DPI, so what is the difference between the MS 1000 and MS 6000 exept for many times the price?

I need 2400 DPI, but would a 1000 DPI mouse with blue tracking be just as fast and accurate?

Some complaints I have seen on reviews is that the entry level MS Mouse is so light that the cord pulls it around. Some mice are so cheap it is like one of those plastic eggs that panty hose come in. Some other advantages might be a better ability to work on multiple kinds of surfaces.
