Inhibit: To prevent from happening by making it more difficult.

Prohibit: To forbid.

To inhibit is to prevent, to prohibit is to make something forbidden....

Like, cops on the street inhibits crimes and the law prohibits the sale of illegal substances....

Does that make sense?
