There seems to be some confusion on the proper definition of "cute" and "Hot" in describing a woman, and how those two terms relate to each other. In an effort to clear the confusion, I have created a poll.

I say they are different. I'm not trying to sound shallow or anything, but to me:

Hot = only attracted sexually
Cute = good personality, attractive
Pretty = good personality, beautiful

So I hold pretty highest in my standards I guess then, or at least I consider it a good compliment when I say that a female is pretty.

Cute = pretty + nice + wholesome = girlfriend or wife potential
Hot = pretty + bitch + slut = fuck bag

So then Hot and Cute would be the on the same "scale" only cute is ranked higher?

cute and hot are separate concepts, you cannot be both at once, at least i've never seen it. It's hard to portray wholesome and a little shy (cute) while being a seductive little minx (All sex appeal [hot])

yes when based on a first impression of them. When I see them for the first time, I think a girls hot if I'm just sexually attracted to her, cute if it's someone I'm sexually attracted to and would date, pretty if I'm sexually attracted, would date and marry. Obviously this is based on looks alone, once they open their mouths, everything can go right out the window and they start going up or falling down the ladder. :p

edit: a girl who starts off as cute and has a great personality becomes pretty, a girl who starts off as hot and has a great personality receives the title of gorgeous. If you start out as pretty, you can only go down in ranking if they have no personality. You can't start out as gorgeous because that requires interaction and knowing the gal

The difference is sexual attractiveness. You may find a person cute but you may not be sexually attracted to them. Let's use the television show 'Friends' as an example. Many may consider Lisa Kudrow who plays Phoebe on Friends to be "cute" but they are not sexually attracted to her. On the other hand, many may consider Jennifer Aniston to be "hot" and have a sexual attraction towards her.

To me they are different concepts, but a girl can be both, just not at the same time. Cute girls are very physically attractive (on my scale) at pretty much all times, on top of their wholesome/shy characteristics. This doesn't stop them from getting all dressed up and going for the provocative/sexy look every once and awhile - where they could be considered more "hot" than "cute."

But when they wake up the next day with no makeup are they still cute, or are they strictly a "hot or not" type girl? That is the almighty question.
