What is the difference between command.com and cmd.exe in Windows XP?

If you run either of these programs in Windows XP you get a prompt, but the windows look slightly different. Is there any reason to use one over the other?

cmd.exe is the native shell. It provides more functionality than command. I would suggest using just cmd.

cmd is 32 bit. it's fast.
command is 16-bit... it takes longer to load, displays text less smoothly... dont use it 🙂

of course, in win9x, command is the only option, but its also fast under those OS'es
