What is the difference between cd-r/rw colors or types?

Hi,

What is the difference between the different colors for
cd-r/rw media; some advertise silver, gold black, etc.???

Any information would be appreciated; don't know much about
this area. Thanks.

Basically, they are different colors. The dye used on the phas-change layer and the color of the silk-screened backing determine the color of the disc.

Some colors seem to work better with certain burners or playback devices. But there doesn't appear to be any particular pattern, you have to try a bunch and see what works best with your particular drives.
