I have a CCNA 2.0 that my friend let me borrow, but I dont have the cash right now to buy the 3.0 book, if I read this book, will I be reading anything omitted from the test? what exactly does the new test consist of? I was thinking I would use this test to study, and in a few weeks, buy the new book and skim and see what I missed. Thanks in advance for help.

Direct from Cisco's press releases:

03/12/02 - Effective March 12, 2002 a new CCNA exam (CCNA 640-607) replaced the CCNA 640-507 certification requirement. This new exam covers the same objectives as the prior exam, but now includes new real-world simulation test items.

If I remember correctly, the "real-world" simulations simply involve having a simulated router you have to enter a few commands into. If you know the stuff and have played with some 2500 series, it shouldn't be any harder than the 507 test.

That's correct. 640-607 has some new features, such as router and switch simulators and some "Type in the command here..." questions. They're not multiple choice, you have to type the exact command (i.e, Router(config-if)#encap frame-relay) and so on. The "?" wont be available. This test is slighlty harder than the previous one. Good luck.
