What Is the difference between a "CV" and a "BX" Sempron 64?

Looking around for a deal,I noticed that a few places have semprons with part numbers
SDA2600CVBOX

and

SDA2600BXBOX??

Both are 2600 64bit 90nm semprons.

The CV's are sometimes more $$$

Does anyone know What is the difference is ??

Well, i went ahead and ordered one.

The numbers on the chip are...

SDA2600AI02BA

LBBIX 0534FPBW

Z748018H51499

I thought ?BA? was a ?D0? Stepping??

But isn?t the ?FPBW? also found on Venice (E6) processors??

well, CPU-Z says it is a revision "DH8-D0"

Which as I understand it is a winchester core.

Now I/we know!!! (if anyone else cares 😛 )

now the next question,

Does it matter??

Should I send it back?? As I thought he 64 bit ones come with SSE3 instructions..

or am I not really missing anything core / memory controller wise???

I do not believe that any 'BA' is 64 bit. So, if you want 64 bit you will want to send it back. You need the BX or above for 64 Bit/SSE3 support.

It would have been interesting if you would have gotton the CV though. That would have most likely been 64 Bit/SSE3 but a possible better ocing core? Or maybe its a true 128KB L2 cache core instead of the 256KB Cache cores with 1/2 of it disabled. Could oc better??

But I am not always the best searcher... 😛

Yeah, CV must be a new core revision. BA was the winchester of the Semprons, the BO the Venice of the Semprons without SSE3, and BX the Venice of the Semprons with 64bit and SSE3.

I wonder what CV brings? Were there supposed to be any improvements to the core introduced? I haven't heard anything.

I did get the SDA2600CVBOX. and it ended up being a 64bit sempron with a winchester core / no SEE3 instructions.

I got a non official 64 bit 2800 sempron before, it has the same revision code in cpu-z and I loaded the 64 bit version of xp with it no problem.

they are probabley just clearing out some old cores.

And the overclock isn't doing so well in my refurb soltek board 🙁

(but I think a lot of it has to do with the board)
