What is the difference between 4 x AGP and 8 x AGP?

Ok so i dont have a motherboard capable of it. But i have been having a dicussion and i want to make sure i have my facts right.

So what does it mean in terms of graphics speed? What does it mean for transfer speeds between the gpu, cpu and ram?

and of course anything else i have missed?
