What is the diff with Registered and non Registered Ram what about ECC and non ECC?

Wanting to buy Micron 512MB PC133 Memory and found Registered and Non registered and don't know what the difference maybe...

registered explanation

ECC is basically error correction RAM...mostly used for servers and the like. in fact , many regular mobo's won't support it. so it's superfluous for the average home user

Actually registered memory won't fit in normal dimm sockets (diff notches) so it is irrelevant for most users. Usually only for high-end servers. I use ECC all the time--little diff in cost for a little extra reliability. When you want to play games, you can turn off ECC in CMOS setup for a few extra fps. And contrary to other message, most current mobos do support ECC--just have to enable it in CMOS setup and (rarely these days) perhaps a jumper.
