It defaults to 1.8 in the bios, but I've heard 1.7 is the default. 1.8 seems like a whole lot of extra voltage over 1.7, maybe it could explain my crashing problems? So whats the default?
try it at 1.6 voltage, higher voltage should fix crashes associated with overclocking
my tbird 900 runs fine at 1.6 so urs should be fine even less? when i overclock, i put voltage to the max, i got 1050mhz.
How much extra heat will raising the voltage create? I've got a crappy fan, I'm waiting on my golden orb...is it possible that actually lowering the voltage will give me a better overclock? I bought a duron 600@900 from the overclokers store, and I cant get it past 700. It runs at 52 C. Thats hot as hell isnt it?
I would lower the voltage down to 1.6 and leave the chip at 600 or only slightly higher until you get better cooling. You really need a good cooler for durons/tbirds because at higher clock speeds and voltages they put out alot of heat. Once your orb arrives, take your time and install it right to make sure it is making good contact with the Duron's core. Heatsink grease helps also.
