I've heard people say they are a horrible company, but they are google trusted and that means $1000 of purchase protection. I found a PSU there for $20 cheaper than anywhere else.

When they were transitioning from buy.com to rakuten.com, there was a period of time when there was a bunch of CC info stolen or leaked or whatever (I personally got hit on 2 cards that I only used on that site). And 3rd party sellers were a little iffy then as well. Bought a brand new ipad mini and it came all smudged in grease. I did get a refund however. But this was about 2-3 years ago I think. Their recent behavior has been fine for me personally as well as the third party sellers I encountered have generally been OK.

They bought Buy.com, Buy.com didn't change their name.

And yeah, WTF were they thinking. For the first few months they had a thing on their website about how to pronounce their name. A "rack" of billiard balls "uh" and the number "10". Hrm... If only they already owned a name that everyone could pronounce.

Use a credit card & you'll be fine.

Rakuten's been good to me in terms of actually getting what I ordered in a timely manner.

While they might be trustworthy in the payment area, they do not tell you that the item is refurbished.
Glad I checked the model number.

Suspicious credit card charges. They charged me and then they told me the item was out of stock. Then they only credit me back the cost of the item minus tax and shipping. I had to call them to try to sort it out and then called my credit card company to sort it out...
