what is the deal with PNY and Elsa?

with word that elsa is making ATI cards now, i am curious to something. i heard a while back that pny bought the bankrupt elsa. I see that pny is offering support for certain elsa products. yet elsa is still a seperate company? what is the deal here?

i don't see why it's odd. kinda like how hp bought compaq, yet they still have compaq under it's own name. it's a bad idea to just kill the name recognition of a popular product.

Support and guarantee services will be provided through December 2003 for the following professional workstations? boards that were sold by ELSA based on NVIDIA technology: ELSA GLoria III, ELSA Synergy III, ELSA Synergy 2000 and Elsa Gloria DCC.

pny bought the professional part of elsa which was allowed to make quadro boards since they could make the certified drivers. the elsa name was probably bought by some other company who just rebrands ATI cards.


i'm assuming elsa's actually developers work for pny now working on quadro stuff.
