What is the current best value CPU overclocker??

I remember it was the XP 1700+ for a while. Still that one.......or is there a better one??

IMO, the 1700+ is still the best value. If you have the cash for a 2.4c then, it is THE cpu to buy in it's price range. But for it's cost you can still get a TBred B and an sweet NF2 mobo.

my 1700+ can do 190x11 or 195x10.5 @ 1.7 vcore

not sure if the mobo is keeping me limited, or the voltage or what, but its damned good to get a 600mhz oc as far as im concerned

A 1700+ with an Abit NF7-S or an 8rda= would suit you nicely.

That combo should only run you back about $130, 140...

Easily capable of hitting 2+ghz...

Mine does 2.4ghz

Oh, my 1700+ goes over 2 Ghz as well, but I don't know if you can still get a good stepping on one these days. Mine's JUIHB.

I have an early one and I can barely push it to 1568. So not all 1700+ are great Overclockers. I think you might be better off going with a 2500+ barton

a SELECT few can do 2400 mhz on air, usually 2500 mhz or more require water. but keep in mind that a tbred at 2.4 ghz is approx. equivilant to a barton at 2.2 ghz

low end: thourobred 1700+ overclocks like a mother, cheap as heck

mid end: barton 2500+ overclocks will only be equal to or slightly better than with the 1700+, but the extra cache is a very nice performance enhancement making it faster per mhz

high end: pentium 2.4c great performer and overclocker, but you can pick up a 2500+ and an 8rda+ for the same price as just the 2.4c processor

yes techie333, you can put barton cpu's in the 8rda+. just remember that the default fsb of the bartons is 333mhz, so make sure you have pc2700 or better ram

I would still vote for the XP 1700+ Thoroughbred "B". Of course, I have yet to try an XP 2500+ Barton core. And I may yet try one of the Intel P4's, but that will have to wait until after I win that state lottery.

im still gonna have to say a 2500+ nothing like getting a $80 CPU run like a $450 CPU
however the 1700+'s are doing a damn fine job as well but sadly there isnt a t-bred that scales as high as a 3200+ so i couldnt even tell ya LOL
