What is the correct temperature for AMD TB 1.2GB. My CPU is running at 48C/118F and my ASUS A7V266 at 23C/73F. Is that normal.

Wht HSF u r using ? W/ such low case temp, the CPU temp should not be tht high. Ur normal temp should be around 35-40C.

Wind,

That is bull. Different MB's read temps differently. He said he was using an Asus board, and Asus boards are known to "compensate the temperature reading HIGHER". NO, that does not mean it is higher than actual. that means its closer to core temp, since socket-thermsitor readings are lower than core temp.

It will run forever with that temp, don't worry about it. I have a tbird 1.2GHz running at that temp. I used the stock HS/F becuase at the time I didn't know better. I never felt like pulling it off and putting another on there so it is still on. I've used it for about a year that way (when DDR first came out) and never had any problems.

I have had a 1.2 (boxed) for a while now on a MSI K7T Turbo Raid. When I first got this thing it was running @ 160f... I got scared and bought a new HSF (Volcano 5) and that brought it down to about 140f... still scared I went and bought an Antec case with a 350w PS and that brought it down to 120f (that case has like 4 or 5 fans running in it... LOL). The funny thing is that through all of that the darn thing NEVER locked up or had any problems (heat related or otherwise). So, all in all, I think you are prolly pretty safe. ;)

Abit KT7E
1.2gHz Tbird
Alpha PAL8045 w/ weak 80mm fan

Low: 27*C
High: 42*C (you can attribute that weak fan for the load temp, produced by playing the Star Trek Armada 2 demo)
