What is the correct pronuciation to Ensign?

I was having a debate with a friend. He pronounces it IN SIGN.......I say it ensen (phonetic)...is both correct? Someone who's been in the navy, please tell me how it is pronounced in the navy or coast guard.....

the flag is pronounced , in sign or en sign

I'm talking about the rank.

Pronounciation 1

In Sign ( sounds line enzyme kinda)

Pronounciation 1
En Sen (sounds like i typed it)
