I know that the cpu frequency can be determined by multiplying the fsb by the clock multiplier. I know that the fsb, in simple terms, is how informaton travels throughout your computer. But what is the multiplier? What gives it the power to simply multiply the fsb speed to achieve a cpu clock speed?

The multiplier simply multiplies itself with the FSB to get a number. That number is the clock speed of the processor. Remember, it's only a number. If a processor can run at that frequency then that is the frequency. Hell, if it doesn't then it gets scrapped. :D

The clock multiplier is how many cpu cycles are timed to occur per each fsb cycle.
