What is the cheapest option for a blackberry plan?

Wife wants to get one for her business use but I'm not fancying the extra $50/month in service fees.

Edit-This would be for 2 phones with 2 data plans, one for me and one for my wife.
 
what carrier? sprint and tmobile have the cheapest plans for data, AT&T and verizon are $30/mo

you can try getting a used curve and porting it over to one of the smaller, unlimited-everything carriers. i think you can use a CDMA blackberry on MetroPCS, their plans are $50 unlimited everything plus $10 per extra line
 
Tmobile does (or used to, been a while since I looked) have a $9.99 Blackberry email plan. Unlimited email but no data.

edit: Nevermind, doesnt look like they do that anymore.

1500min/unlim text/data 2 lines $129.99
3000/unlim text/data $169.99

Sprint has the cheapest of the Big 3 carriers.

Nope, not any more.
But they still have relatively cheap options compared to the other guys, if you dont want unlimited.

Sprint is the best pricewise, especially for unlimited everything, BUT, they probably have the worst coverage.

As for Blackberries, they are often the most expensive to own. Theres a reason people get them through work.

Sprint has better coverage than AT&T and is second only to Verizon.
 
If you would be new to sprint you can get their EPRP plan, it is only available to new subscribers or current SERO customers. 1600 minutes and unlimited everything else(BB, data, GPS, SMS, MMS, TV, etc) for $110 a month. That is what I have for me and my wifes BB's and I love it. Comparable service from AT&T or Verizon is almost $200. I didn't even look at T-Mobile due to their still underdeveloped 3G service.

Consumer Reports ranked Sprint worst of the top 4 carriers in terms of network coverage in major metropolitan areas nationwide. Out of the 26 metropolitan areas surveyed, Sprint was last in all but two - specifically in Miami and San Francisco - where Sprint was 3rd of 4, but for the other 24 Sprint was worst. This was based on a nationwide survey of 51,740 subscribers in Sept. 2008. Beyond the CR survey, every other survey that I have read shows Sprint last in terms of network coverage as well.

For what it's worth, I don't have an axe to grind against Sprint. Several surveys show it has the fastest network data speeds overall and it is cheaper than the other carriers - particularly the lucky souls on SERO. PC World just did their own study and anyone who knows anything knows that CR is full of it and Sprint came out above AT&T and second only to Verizon for 3G reliability.

buy the phone somewhere else without the data plan. Then if you have ATT or t-mobile just say you have a razor or something and would like to add the internet. For me it costs 10 a month for unlimited data. I use the gmail app on my phone for email.

EDIT: i think i get the data for 10 because we have family unlimited texting, but i still cant see them charging alot for a razr data plan. Check it out.
 
Go with tmobile if you want to stay away from sprint based on comser report and remeber that comser report is no flake
 
Coverage is dependent on the area you are in. Where I am Sprint has great service, as does Verizon. If you want 3G they are the only option. The closed 3G AT&T has is around 90 miles away. For widespread 3G coverage Sprint and Verizon are the best, there is no argument to that. If you live in an area that AT&T serves with 3G then they are a perfectly viable option. TMobiles 3G coverage is a joke. The OP wanted the cheapest option and Sprint is that by a pretty large margin.
