what is the bottleneck in my laptop when i play dvd's?

when i tried to play the matrix at school via dvd it stuttered and skipped all over the place.

what would be the bottleneck?

It is most like software since your system is more than adequate to play DVD's.

Is your DVD rom using DMA?
