What is the big deal with Carlos Beltran?

Is he good as advertised. I don't watch Royals play much so can someone tell me how good Carlos Beltran is? I doubt is worth his asking price.

he is a good player on a crappy team. if he is on a good team, there is potential for even better stuff from him

the royals know they stink and want to unload payroll since we'll be well below .500 this year, and probably set a new club record for losses. breaking 100 losses this year will be a breeze even if they keep beltran and sweeney

His batting stats don't seem incredible. Better than average but not superstar.

Well, he is NOT a superstar. He's an excellent all-around player.

Yep, hits and runs well, plays fine in the field.
And he's just coming up on his peak baseball years.

The man wants Chipper Jones money. I don't think so.

more than money, he probably just wants to be on a decent team

why would anyone want to play for such a pathetic team as the royals? there is no money here for good players, so anybody that gets decent should want to get traded, especially if they can get a few more $ out of the deal

he's a 30/30 player with 40/40 potential. I like to compare with (stat-wise) with Bobby Abreu. Abreu doesn't steal as much, but it looks like his power #'s will be increasing in his new home park. I have Thome and Abreu on my fantasy team, and they've exceeded my expectations so far. Beltran was tearing it up like no other the first couple of weeks but has been slumping since then. How much will you pay for a .300, 30 homer, 30 steal, 100 rbi, 100 run guy with a good glove?

For fantasy baseball Beltran's numbers are great! 30 steals AND home runs and RBIs!

Manny's numbers weren't as good as his days with the Indians.

Remember Arod? He wanted to play for a winner but instead opted to sign with Rangers. Why didn't he resign with Mariners if he wanted to be on a winning team?

Beltran is all about the money.

scott boras is one of the best agents out there. He gets people money, and a lot of it.

If you were a baseball player, what agent would you sign with?
