Newegg is offering either the AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black edition (Am3), or the X4 920 (Am2+) for $140 shipped. Which one is the better deal?
 
Whichever one it is, remember newegg has that promo for bill me later or preferred account that'll provide $20 cashback.

I'd say the 920. Guaranteed four cores and i've had success overclocking mine to 3.6 or so stable.
 
The 920 can overclock just as well as other Denebs just lacks the adjustable multis. IMO get a 920, you will be able to overclock just fine using the HTT frequency and AFAIK NB frequency multi's are unlocked on all CPUs I think anyway.
