What is the better deal? Shure E2c for $100, or Shure E4c for $300

A friend of mine got some Shure E4c's for Christmas, and they are incredible. I haven't heard the E2c though, and am wondering if the E4c are really worth $200 more.

Anyone directly compare the two models? I am leaning towards just getting the E4c's because I don't want to be disappointed with the E2c's.

EDIT:
OKay that was fast. Just bought some Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pros. They are awesome. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Bought them at Apple Store at The Grove (LA). MSRP, but I don't give a crap I wanted them today.

I've never heard either of them but generally in electronics there's a sort of law of diminishing returns. That is to say that you start paying exponentially more money for small improvements in performance.

E2c for $100 is a complete ripoff, they can be had for as low as $60. If you're used to Aiwa boombox type systems, stock car audio (including bose, rofl) and stock ipod earbuds and such, you certainly won't be disappointed with the E2s.

the e4c's can be had for $200 at www.djdeals.com and other sites. just bought some 2 weeks ago.

edit: interesting, it looks like the e4c's have been discontinued. the e4's are the only option now. i think the only difference was the color. the e4's are black.

Get a headphone amp, I find that it makes more difference than your headphones if they cost more than $60.

Yes and a firehose can whip around all by itself! That alone is worth it for the kinkiness! :D

I just got a pair of these today. They are awesome! I like them a lot more than my e3c's that I used to have.

Why do they make canal phones with 150ohms impedance?
There are a lot of portable amps out there.

My speakers have eleventry billion drivers in them. Can you top that in sound quality?

What's the point in this?

It's a known fact a single driver fares poorly at handling a wide range of frequencies especially when lower frequencies and high frequencies are played at high amplitudes simultaneously.

The UE-10's I use have dual LF drivers and 1 HF drivers. They have separate chambers and egress ports all the way through the canal piece. They can put out bass notes that make you flinch like getting stabbed in the head with an ice pick. The E5C's under the same test produced a lot of distortion and swishing noises. Granted this is an unusual circumstance but still.

THE key advantage to IEM's is the isolation they provide. This allows lower listening levels and preserves dynamic range. (as well as the user's hearing.) If used for a living, customs are THE way to go.
