What is the best?

So I am looking into my processor and I have noticed for a while now, they always have a different core name. So what exactly is the difference in each core name, which is the best one, best quality? I am looking at the i5-4690k.

Search for the processors on ark.intel.com. Most of the difference in processors is the core count, clock speed and hyper threading. Processors with names that end in a k allow overclocking.

The 200MX, a bar that will never be passed

No no no, it's gotta be the 386sx16! The sx is for sux!

edit: screw that, 386sx12 4 life yo

Seriously, OP, if you want "the best" desktop processor, it's probably the Intel i7-5960X. Hope the price doesn't bother you too much.

I will be using for high end gaming, I just want to know if I should get a Devil Canyons, Haswell-E, Ivy Bridge? So now you guys might understand my question.

If I were building a high-end gaming PC from scratch today, I'd go with an X99 board + i7 5820K. The 4790K is a great chip and the platform costs are lower, but with X99 you get more cores which could be helpful as games take advantage of them.

The downside to X99 is that DDR4 prices are higher than DDR3 prices, and obviously the 5820K and the board you buy will each be more expensive than the 4790K + Z97.

The question I would ask you is: what's your budget?
