100% uptime does not exist.

1) Servers go down (SCSI Hard Drives are a must)
2) Networks go down (The Planet today and Burst.net a few weeks ago)

However you can get close to 100% if you go with a web host who knows what they are doing and offer realistic pricing.

Here is my uptime for one of my reseller accounts, it's always fast, support has been phenomenal and uptime is great.

As for the actual host, talk with RossMAN who already replied, he's very knowledgable in this aspect

Edit: He already replied :p

yes. I knew Rossman would post a reply. He hooked me up with $5/year for my personal hosting and it was rock solid host.
He was kind enough to point the DNS and also install forums on my site. That was exactly an year ago.

Ygpm back ross

I remember doing that for you, weird.

Yet I can't remember what I had for lunch last week, I must be getting old.

I'll send you an e-mail in a little bit :)

Cybercon is one of the best hosting companies. They are in the Bandwidth Exchange Building in St. Louis, and have direct backbone connections to the best providers in the buildings. I used to work for them, and still do some work now and then for them. They host some of the highest profile accounts possible, including an entire foreign government's online presence, stock exchange, etc. Its a pretty sweet place. Not the cheapest though, but worth it if this is mission critical and need 100% uptime. Because of their location and the BGP network they have, they haven't been down for over 4 years.

Remember this is a technical company, not a design company, so their web site is pretty plain jane. But if you read up on the company, you should get my point.

yep, I'm still a happy dixiesys customer. But the pricing was much better when I signed up (it was like 3.95/month)
and just like Rossman said, 100% uptime doesn't exist. Likewise, "unlimited" doesn't exist

When I was with clook (on the incredible Oldfield server @ GNAX) it was simply amazing.

One day I will return to clook.

They're supposed to have a sale in a month or so, I'm anxiously awaiting to see what kind of offers Jim will introduce to lure me back :p
