What is the best way to transport 19" monitors?

Hey all,
I'll be moving 2 19" CRT Sony screens in the backseat of my car for a 300+ mile trip, what is the best way to place these monitors? I want it to incur as little damage if no damage at all, I don't want the electron guns to get out of alignment, etc.....

1) Place it upright on the back seat?
2) Place it face (screen) down onto the seat?
3) Any more ideas?

Thanks a bunch.

I take my Viewsonic 17" all over the place for lan parties, usually an 100+ mile trip, some round trips, some not. I usually set it upright in the seat beside me and haven't had any problems so far. I have transported it screen down in the seat too. I dunno really what's best either. I normally drive relatively slow so as to avoid a sudden jar, or bump that might harm the monitor.

I Really didn't know there were any specifics for transporting your monitor. When you buy one online, it is shipped and handled probably pretty rough most of the times. I know they are packed in styrofoam, but can't be anyworse than just riding in a vehicle.

If moving a CRT, I usually face the tube towards the back of the seat. If the stand/rotational plastic piece on the bottom of the monitor is removable, I take it off. After it's placed in the seat, I use a seatbelt to fasten it in. 🙂 Hey, it really works.

Now, if you had kept the original boxes...😉

Good luck!

i place my 2 moniters 1 19in and 1 17in face down in teh back seat. place a soft towell or blanket down first to keep teh beelts from scratching them and everything is fine

The best way is to keep the monitor's original box and the styrofoam used to hold the monitor in place, then re-pack it when you need to transport it. 😀

I use the same method....and have done for the past 5 yrs, in both parent's car and in both of my 2 cars 🙂 Done this in both the front and back seats of the cars 🙂

Confused
