Work out, don?t look like a dweeb. Brush your teeth and hair at least once a day. Get involved in sports and do well. NEVER talk about computers unless they ask you a specific question (don?t worry, they won?t EVER). Dump all of your geek friends or at least never be seen with them in public.
Here is the kicker: Girls at your age (assuming your under 50) are really into posturing in front of their friends. If they are too embarrassed to show you off (or you are not as good as what her friends have) then you will walk alone. In the end, it really does not matter who you are (or how caring, compassionate, brilliant you are although that may matter later in your life in a serious relationship), but what you look like or what they think you can get them.
Now I know this sounds really brutal, but the sooner you grasp reality the sooner you can work the system.

Well I think Jimbo is a bit pessimistic - although his advice _will_ help, its just not always necessary, and some chicks are not as materialistic. Nonetheless, first impressions are based upon appearances to a great part.

You will meet many Freelance Indirect Prostitutes (aka gold diggers). These are the women who will make judgement on what trendy style of clothing exists, what car you drive, where you eat, etc. You get sex, they get money (indirectly through material goods). Ideally these women would be rounded up and shot (as well as the men), but what can you do?
Here's what you CAN do: smile a lot (have a GOOD smile, no missing teeth or yellow deformed teeth allowed), be funny (you cannot gauge your own funniness, but you have to be funny), as said before: have a good body (that's evolutionary, women dig cut guys -- talkin a swimmer/diver cut, not bulk, a healthy look), be present around her and hypnotyse her with your charm... then take the lead and ask her out (in a day of being PC, women still don't ask out men).
